Today, Thursday 10/11, the Initiate Summit of the Dubai Esports Festival ended. Meeting where BELOBABA attended to explain why from our point of view, gaming and esports will be the gateway for crypto assets to massive adoption and how we are managing the investment in them.
The event is dedicated to gaming, esports and PopCon culture, as a form of entertainment and where the PUBG Global Championship 2022 with a prize pool of 2M$ is included.
On the first day, it was shown what are the numbers at the level of user types and attention that esports has today as well as the 4 major categories of esports revenue.
If we talk about demographics, gaming and esports are the natural step of the new generations. Young people aged 25 and under declare to be gamers themselves and spend, on average, 8 hours online per day.
We also talked about how to attract and manage talent, especially locally, given the cultural differences between Europe and the USA.
How to create agencies that become great drivers of community growth, to understand their audience and what content brings value, or how to design content based on how the audience wants to access and consume the content, are very interesting points for the sector.
The second and last day dealt with points more related to raising capital or investments and the growth of the industry in terms of game creation and monetization.
It is worth mentioning the panel where Álvaro González de Buitrago Burgoa intervened, dedicated to the monetization of the teams and the two panels to which I contributed my grain of sand, related to how to invest in the sector.
And how web3 will transform gaming and esports, not only with NFTs, but also with new revenue sources such as tokenization, which we have already talked about after our investment in TQ Olympo.
Finally, two interesting and always pending points, the fight against stigma and women in the sector.
And where you can buy a reproduction of a Hulk comic book, published in the year I was born.
As the end of the party, and with that geeky point that I have, we walked around the PopCon, where we found things like the one in the photos, still without people, as it’s before opening.
From BELOBABA we still believe, despite what happened this week, that gaming, blockchain and crypto assets will be part of the future to come and more seeing what they can bring to such a powerful industry. Esports definitely need blockchain.
